Just wanted to spread a word about a new Drupal project on https://www.privywhois.com for protecting the domain name whois information.
When registering a domain name you have to specify your real name, address, email and phone number to comply with ICANN regulations. However, because the whois database is accessible to anyone on Internet you risk exposing your personal information to spammers, marketing companies and online fraudsters. And here is when our service comes into use: with PrivyWhois in place your confidential information is no longer available for public consumption.
The website is built on Drupal 7. It is a very simple website using several contributed modules and one custom module that takes care of interactions between Drupal and mail server at back-end to create public mail accounts associated with customers’ domain names. Anything that is received by those public e-mail accounts is processed to clean up spam and viruses and then forwarded to private customer e-mail addresses.
Feedbacks and questions are welcome!
